1st  Announcement

The organisation of Conferences on Community and Home based Care stems from the
realisation that the issue is hardly dealt with in international meetings. This
conference, initiated by PWAs, is convened every other year since 1993, in different
countries, with different themes depending on PWA priority concerns. The 6th
International Conference on Home and Community Based Care for People Living with HIV/AIDS
will be held for first time in Africa, in Dakar/Senegal, December 8 ?11, 2003.

The theme of the Dakar 2003 Conference ?More Care for Better Living? aims to highlight the
priority needs of PLWAs in a situation where antiretrovirals become increasingly available
in developing countries, too. The theme of the 6th Home & Community Care Conference is
justified on the continuous global search for alternative options helping PLWAs with
?Better Care?, ?Better Living?, and ?Development? while contributing in the development of
their respective countries.

6ème Conférence Internationale sur la Prise en Charge Communautaire et à Domicile des
Personnes Vivant avec le Virus du Sida
1ère Annonce

L?organisation de conférences sur la prise en charge communautaire et à domicile est
partie d?une constatation selon laquelle cette question était peu abordée dans les
rencontres internationales en générale. Cette conférence initiée par les PVVIH, s?organise
depuis 1993 tous les deux ans dans différents pays, avec des thèmes qui traitent des
préoccupations prioritaires des PVVH.  La 6e Conférence Internationale sur la Prise en
Charge Communautaire et à Domicile des Personnes Vivant avec le Virus du Sida s?organise
pour la première fois en Afrique, et ceci à Dakar/Sénégal, du 08 au 11 décembre 2003.

Le thème de la 6ème Conférence «Plus de soins pour mieux Vivre» cherche à mettre en
évidence les besoins prioritaires de PVVIH à l?ère des antirétroviraux (ARV). Le thème
trouve également son originalité dans cette situation globale de recherche effrénée d?
alternatives pour permettre aux PVVIH de «Mieux se soigner» de «Mieux vivre», «de se
développer», et de contribuer au développement de leurs différents pays.
