Community collaboration

Dear friends,

I have seen that someone mentioned here about the role of the school. Actually, I do agree
with that but one more thing we should keep in mind is that we cannot talk about the role
of each existing institute in community separately.

I would like to see some sessions that talk about community collaboration. Home, School,
Hospital, head of community and religious institutes that work together to help care of
children affected by HIV/AIDS.

We have some cases in Thailand where children affected by HIV/AIDS are discriminated from
going to school. With support from involved NGOs, the children can live normal lives in
their community but still, the problem occurs in other communities where no NGO's work. I
will later post the article I have written about this case.

One more point from the last HCC, I think the topic on care of carer is less mentioned.

Speaker

I would like to recommend Dr.Sandra Bertman who has created a fabulous "living with
Dying", "Caring for Caregiver" training that has been done in Namibia with huge success
(400) attendees and Botswana and several other places.

She has truly made the topic International. All those who have attended were extremely
excited about her presentation. I would be happy to provide her information.
