Challenges of Home Visits
- Joy K
*********
Dear Colleagues,
I am responding to Eddie's e-mail about the type of home visit to offer to these patients
[RE: posting - [procaare] Re: Your Input - HCC 2003 (10) ]
<snip>
I know that anything from a home visit, to dropping off a food parcel or to administering
pain management treatment are included in the term or referred to as HC (Home care).
<end snip>
I agree that in our settings especially from developing countries, it very difficult to
give what is required in the HC program.
First of all there is little time to spend visiting about two or three homes in a few
hours, maybe you have gone with a vehicle which should return to the base to do other
duties, and you find yourself doing a hasty home visit, just to say hullo, how is the
patient etc.
As a counselor, you notice that there could be a problem to talk about but because of time
and the resources, you find that you have not given the patient the services needed.
So, I suggest that there should be a proper programme for this because it so critical.
