Dear colleagues,
Speaking about "Reliable Examples of Home Care for PWHA", I know some on going projects
dedicated to home care for HIV positive persons. In fact, there (in Constanta, Romania)
are some projects developed for HIV-positive kids. I don't know if you are interested to
find more about home care for children, or just for adults. In Romania it is a special
situation. We have many HIV-infected children, who were abandoned in hospitals.
During the time, in the last 5-7 years, some NGOs developed home care programs for these
children. The "model" of home care is not so different from a project to another. Usually,
it is a house where 8-10 children are living there. They have "social mothers" who take
care of them. These mothers cook for children, clean the house, organize socializing
activities for kids, contibute to child' education so on. Some projects have a bigger
team, which include tutors or special educators.
If you need more information, feel free to ask for more details.
Regards,
Dr. Paula Bulancea

For and excellent account of home care for Aids patients in rural poor areas of South
Africa see the enclosed web site and look for the materials on Bambisanani - a home care
project over the past 4 years.
