Positive Living is a HIV/AIDS and Wellness-focused community empowerment
intervention, with several modules applicable to any business, community or
individual: Food security; Nutritional security; Immune-strengthening,
using foods and other physical means; Health motivation methods; Water
safety and purification; Preventing and dealing with stomach and
intestinal problems; Home remedies for common illnesses
(non-life-threatening); Mind-body (PNI) counselling methods for immune
enhancement; Application of above methods in a therapeutic support group
structure; Alternatively, in a workplace or community wellness
intervention.

Additional modules are more HIV-specific: Q&A regarding intermediate
level knowledge of HIV and AIDS; The history of pandemics, and how they
start, and how they end; Dealing with Wasting Syndrome; What are ARV's
and when are they used?; Using nutrition to support ARV treatment;
Dealing with stigma; Qualities and strategies of long-term survivors.

The above modules have been successfully applied in various
interventions, large and small. In Mozambique, for example, a national
intervention (Vida Positiva /Positive Living) was rolled out over a
two-year period, under the auspices of the National AIDS Council. It
was assessed and evaluated, and found to be one of the most
cost-effective and sustainable interventions in that region's history.
Training of trainers has occurred in Lesotho (CARE), Eritrea
(UNICEF/Dept.Health), various NGO's and government agencies from
Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, South Africa, to
name a few. In 2007 the program will be rolled out in Vietnam and Cambodia.
