The Center for Global Development: Challenges and Opportunities for the New Executive Director of the Global Fund
- ICASO
**********

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Center for Global Development we are pleased to
distribute the following information:

On October 31, The Global Fund will announce the nomination of its new
Executive Director (ED). This leadership transition, the first ever for
the Fund, occurs as the Fund evolves from an innovative, start-up
organization to a mature and sustainable institution, and at a time when
the Fund faces several key strategic challenges. As the central figure
leading the Global Fund through this transition, the new ED will need to
focus on the most vital issues for making the Global Fund a more effective
agency.

In order to assist the new ED, the Center for Global Development, convened
a working group to analyze and assess the key issues facing the new ED.
The working group has just released a report that identifies seven key
tasks for the new ED and includes specific recommendations the ED should
take to make the Global Fund a more effective organization. The report,
entitled Challenges and Opportunities for the New Executive Director of
the Global Fund: Seven Essential Tasks, can be accessed on CGDâs website
