CRH Nursing Excellence Awards: Rewarding Professional Excellence in Nursing
Practice
- Stella Iwuagwu
*******************
CRH with support from the Ford Foundation Office for West Africa announces
the first award ceremonies to reward professional excellence in the nursing
practice.
The Centre for the Right to Health (CRH) is a non- profit, non- religious,
non-governmental organization founded in 1999, dedicated to research,
training and advocacy for the realization of the right to health in Nigeria,
especially for vulnerable groups such as women, children, youths and people
living with HIV/AIDS. CRH mobilizes the efforts of a wide range of
stakeholders in its bid to actualize the right to health in Nigeria.
Call for nomination
Nurses in Nigeria are faced with multi faceted challenges at work which has
caused many of them to seek greener pastures outside the shores of the
country. Yet many more persevered to be the bedrock of our healthcare
system. They devoted their time and energies pursuing the wellbeing of their
patients and improvement of the work environment. We cannot pretend not to
notice them; they need to be encouraged and motivated to do more. We
therefore request you to nominate Nurses from Imo State and The Federal
Capital Territory and its environs that are extra ordinary in the discharge
of their ordinary duties for a merit award of professional excellence.
How to nominate
Nominations must carry full names and work details of nominees which should
contain a short testimony or reference letter detailing the special deeds or
conducts that marks the nominee out for honour. Full names, addresses and
phone numbers or contact details of the one nominating are required.
Nominations are open until close of work on 16th February 2007.
Selection Panel
Inter disciplinary team of professionals will examine the nominations and
objectively select the awardees.
Selected Nominees
Selected nominees will be honoured in two separate award ceremonies holding
in Abuja and Owerri respectively in April 2007 as we celebrate the World
Health Day. We have done a great deal of work with health professionals in
Imo State and Abuja and want to encourage them become advocates of health
rights as well as keep the spirit of nursing alive and healthy.
